This book tells the story of why and what happened to Abdurrahman from the presidency? Is because of the Bruneigate and Buloggate cases. However, said Director of NU Online Savic Ali, with the publication of the book ‘Lariat Gus Dur’ written by Virdika Rizky Utama, the young generation of NU could find out the truth about the fall of Gus Dur. This was conveyed by Savic when he was discussing at the book discussion program ‘Lariat Gus Dur’ which was held in the Bung Hatta Building Hall, Jakarta State University, East Jakarta, Wednesday (1/22). The activity was held by UNJ Historical Education Study Program. “I met with NU young people and they were shocked. ‘It was like this, yes Mas’. They did not know. They only knew that Gus Dur had fallen and when Gus Dur fell it was amazing that Gus Dur had Bruneigate and Buloggate cases. “That is clearly a bad image, never explained, but with this book tens of thousands of NU generations I think already know,” said Savic. Savic said the book, published by NUmedia Digital Indonesia, became an important reading for the young generation of NU because it explained the momentum of Indonesia’s political history that was hard to forget. “This book is part of the momentum of the tool to make our generation understand how Gus Dur was deposed. Don’t let what happened to the Marhaen generation who don’t know much about how Bung Karno was removed. This happened to the NU generation until they did not know how Gus Dur was deposed this bespectacled man. Savic also said that this 376-page book showed very clearly how Indonesia’s political journey could not be separated from the old forces, namely the people of Suharto. According to him, the fall of Soeharto from his post as president did not necessarily make his strength weak. “Even since Pak Harto stepped down, these forces have never been truly weak. It did not take long for Gus Dur to become president, only for a long period of a year, Golkar was still elected by many people,” he said. He further stated that in the 2004 general election, the Golkar party occupied the top position with national votes of 24,480,757 or 21.58 percent, then the second position of the most votes was occupied by Megawati Sukarnoputri’s party, the Democratic Struggle for Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) -P) with 21,026,629 votes or 18.53 percent of votes. “So it doesn’t take long for old hands who are indeed powerful, have strong networks, have strong financial resources to be able to influence the course of Indonesian politics,” he explained.
